Apparel Design & Development

I am a fashion designer and technical designer with 17 years of experience—and I operate comfortably on both sides of that line. I believe that a great design is only as good as its execution; I develop the concepts, color stories, and silhouettes, and then I build the "iron-clad" technical documentation to ensure they are manufactured perfectly.

The Creative Foundation My design philosophy is rooted in a life lived outdoors. Growing up skiing, surfing, and snowboarding in the mountains and on the water, performance apparel has never been abstract to me. I wear what I design, I test the limits of the fabrics I spec, and I understand the physics of a garment in motion. This personal connection drives my aesthetic: functional, durable, and effortlessly modern.

Industry Provenance My approach was forged during six years at Columbia Sportswear, where I progressed from Associate Designer to Product Development for their outerwear and baselayer lines. In a high-volume, high-performance environment, there is zero room for ambiguity. That experience taught me to think in construction sequences and to catch technical discrepancies before they become expensive production errors.

I have run Kachka Design Studio, acting as a dual-threat partner for brands. I lead the creative direction while simultaneously building the factory-ready blueprints (tech packs) that manufacturers require. I specialize in taking the "guesswork" out of the process, ensuring the creative spark isn't lost in translation.
